2023 EVENTS

The primary goal of the MATCH Coalition is to inform key stakeholders and promote related policies, guidelines, and regulations that support the adoption and application of clinically appropriate technology for the betterment of maternal health outcomes by fostering activities in the areas of research, education, and innovation.

MATCH Coalition in-resident public policy team and Co-Chairs, David Gray and Elizabeth Frazee provided a recap of the mid-term elections and offered points for consideration on the potential impact that the results may have on maternal health and technology in 2023 and beyond.

MATCH Coalition Co-Chair, Elizabeth Frazee discussed digital maternal health and telehealth access with Olivia Trusty, Subcommittee Policy Director, U.S. Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee Communications, Media and Broadband Subcommittee.  We took a closer look at the state of Mississippi and the efforts of Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) which have resulted in increased access to telehealth for everyone and especially rural Americans.

Virginia maternal health was in the spotlight for September 2022. We were honored to be joined by Rene Cabral-Daniels, JD, MPH, FHIMSS, CEO of Cenevia. Rene shared the approach that state officials, healthcare, and communities took to address maternal health issues and how those steps have proven to be successful. We also discussed current-day needs and plans that are being adopted by FQHCs and others to address new areas of need.

August 2022 - MATCH Coalition summer break - no meeting

We were honored to welcome Farrell Turner, CPA, CPC, FHFMA, CEO of Turner & Company, LLC, and the President of the Alabama Rural Health Association. Together we explored the maternal health needs of the state of Alabama and approaches being taken state-wide to address those needs.

June 21, 2022 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Eastern

In the month of June, we turned our attention to the Liberty & Prosperity State, New Jersey. The state is working diligently to address its high rates of maternal mortality and morbidity. We explored both the related and associated challenges that are plaguing the state and what strategies are being taken to address them. Guest speakers included  Amit Trivedi, MS, Sr. Director, Informatics & HIT Standards at @HIMSS who spoke on the importance of privacy and security in the management of maternal health data. 


This was followed by a lively interaction with Gloria A Bachmann, MD, MMS

Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Medicine, Associate Dean for Women's Health, Co-Director, Women's Health Institute (WHI), Medical Director of the PROUD Gender Center of NJ, Medical Director of the NJ Commission on Women's Reentry, at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School;  along with Dr. Pamela Brug, MD, MS, Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Hackensack Meridian Health Raritan Bay Medical Center and Hackensack University Medical Center, and Vice President of the New Jersey Black Women Physicians Association

MATCH Coalition joins REACH for the Maternal Health and Wellness Influencers' Luncheon HIMSS22 Orlando and ONLINE 

The purpose of this event was to provide a meeting ground for maternal health innovators, thought leaders, and influencers. The event was hosted on Zoom and onsite at the Hyatt Regency, Florida


Topics explored included:  Maternal Health and Digital Health Tools; Perinatal Behavioral Health Support; Maternal Health and Chronic Disease Management; Maternal Health Policy and Regulations; Promoting Positive Birthing Experiences; and Perinatal Nutrition for Life - Before Birth and Beyond

Dr. Heidi Altman, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Georgia Southern University presented findings from her research on clinical empathy and the experiences of pregnant women, called The Georgia Moms Project.

Nathaniel DeNicola, MD, MSHP, FACOG, Johns Hopkins Health System, Chair of Telehealth, ACOG presented perspectives on digital health adoption and growth in the area of maternal health. Dr. DeNicola led the meeting attendees in a discussion on the needs and current activities that their institutions are conducting. The group also discussed what is missing in the legislative line up for maternal health and wellbeing.

Our special guest speaker for June 2021 was Earle Rugg, CEO of Rural Health IT,  Earle is a serial HRSA awardee - grant writer.
